Most solid wood desks are a fixed 750 mm. That height suits an adult of average build sitting down, and nobody else — not a child, not someone tall, not anyone who wants to stand for part of the day.

This one moves. A solid rubberwood top on a dual-motor electric frame, adjusting from 700 to 1150 mm at the press of a button. It is the same timber we have built our study tables around for years, on a frame that adapts.
Solid timber, in a category built from particleboard
Almost every height adjustable desk sold in Singapore is a metal frame with a laminate, MDF or particleboard top. This is real wood, edge to edge, with grain you can see and feel in both finishes.
That matters more here than most places. Particleboard and MDF absorb moisture readily — exposed edges wick it in, and under year-round humidity and constant air-con cycling, panels swell and delaminate. Once that happens the top is finished. Solid rubberwood behaves differently, and because it is genuine timber all the way through, a scratch or a ring mark can be sanded back and refinished rather than replaced.
A laminate desk gets worse every year. A solid wood desk can be brought back. Over the ten or twelve years a child might use one desk, that difference compounds.

Why this suits a student desk particularly
A child at eight and the same child at eighteen need very different desk heights. Buy fixed and you either buy twice or accept years of poor posture — hunched shoulders early, cramped legs later. A 700–1150 mm range covers a primary schooler through to a full-grown adult, and it takes seconds to change.
It also handles the thing a fixed desk cannot: standing to work. Alternating position through a long study session keeps circulation moving and helps with the flagging concentration that comes after an hour of sitting still.

Two sizes
- 1200 × 600 mm — a bedroom corner or a study nook in a compact flat, and the right size for a child's room
- 1400 × 600 mm — the comfortable default for a monitor, a laptop and an open textbook at the same time
If you need a larger work surface in solid timber, the Solid Wood L-Shape runs from 140 + 100 cm up to 180 + 140 cm on a tri-motor frame.

Two finishes, grain visible in both
- Natural Finish — a clear varnish over the bare timber. Pale, open grain; suits light and Scandinavian-leaning rooms.
- Walnut Finish — a tinted painted finish in a deep warm brown, applied thinly enough that the grain still reads through. Suits darker, more traditional studies.
Both are solid rubberwood, and both can be sanded back and refinished if the surface is ever damaged. Walnut Finish refers to the colour of the finish, not the timber species.
Dual motor, and why there is no single-motor option
Both columns are driven. We build this desk in dual motor only, and that is deliberate — a solid timber top is heavier than laminate, and a single motor dragging it is a compromise we would rather not sell on our better material.

A wood that earns its place
Rubberwood is a plantation hardwood harvested from rubber trees at the end of their latex-producing life — timber that would otherwise be burned or discarded. It is a legitimately sustainable choice rather than a marketing one, and it is why we can put a solid top on an adjustable desk at this price.

Delivery and assembly
Free delivery and assembly across Singapore. Our team brings the desk in, assembles it in the room, tests the height adjustment with you and takes the packaging away.
Standard lead time is 3–4 weeks from order. See both finishes in person at our Toa Payoh showroom before you buy — timber grain is one of the things a screen genuinely cannot show you.
Care
Your solid wood desk will look good for years with very little effort. Use coasters under hot drinks, and wipe spills promptly with a dry cloth rather than letting liquid sit.
Avoid positioning the desk directly beneath an air-conditioning vent — the constant dry draught is harder on timber than Singapore's humidity is. Keeping indoor humidity somewhere around 40–60% suits the wood best.
If the surface picks up a scratch or a ring mark over the years, it can be sanded back and refinished — clear varnish on a Natural Finish top, or the tinted finish on a Walnut. That is the advantage of solid wood over laminate, and it is worth using.
