A Rattan Shoe Cabinet That Dresses the Entryway

Some shoe cabinets try to disappear. This rattan shoe cabinet does the opposite — woven cane-pattern doors, warm timber and brass-toned knobs make it the piece your entryway is arranged around, in the French retro spirit of a hallway console from another era. Behind the weave, it is a full working shoe cabinet: multi-tier storage for the household's pairs, two drawers for the small things, and a gallery display top for the objects that greet you at the door.

The Display Top

The cabinet rises to a two-level top: a recessed upper shelf framed by a curved gallery back, and the main surface below it. Use the upper level for the things you want seen — a vase, framed photos, a favourite ornament — and the lower surface as the everyday landing zone for a tissue box, a basket for sundries, or the post you have not opened yet. The gallery edge keeps small items from sliding off the back, a small detail that matters on a piece used twice a day.

Two Drawers for the Grab-and-Go Layer

Below the display top sit two drawers with solid-brass-toned knobs, sized for the entryway essentials that otherwise scatter: keys, access cards, sunglasses, shoe horns, spare masks and the lint roller. They open on smooth runners, and their fronts sit flush in the facade so the cabinet reads as one clean composition.

Rattan Doors That Let Shoes Breathe

The two door fronts are woven synthetic rattan in the classic open cane pattern. The weave does two jobs at once: it gives the cabinet its character, and it lets air move freely through the door front, so shoes inside dry out naturally after a rainy commute instead of sitting in still air. Unlike natural cane, the synthetic weave shrugs off Singapore's humidity — it will not sag, fray or discolour, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth.

Storage for the Whole Household

Behind the doors, tiered shelves run the full 120cm width of the cabinet — as a guide, around 16 to 20 pairs, from flats and sneakers to school shoes, with room on the lower levels for chunkier pairs. Raised timber legs lift the cabinet off the floor, keeping the base airy, easy to clean beneath, and friendly to robot vacuums.

Solid Rubberwood, Water-Based Finish

The frame, shelves, drawers and legs are solid rubberwood — a dense plantation-grown hardwood with a Janka hardness of around 960 to 1,000 lbf that holds its shape and joints through Singapore's humidity swings. Every surface is sealed with a water-based paint finish: no strong paint smell, no off-gassing period, safe for occupied homes from the day it is installed — and it keeps its true colour over the years rather than yellowing.

Three Colours

Choose from three finishes over the same solid construction: Natural Wood, light and honey-toned for Scandinavian and Japandi rooms; Black Walnut, a deep brown that anchors classic and moody interiors; and Cherry, a warm reddish mid-tone with a vintage character that pairs beautifully with the cane weave.

Sized for Singapore Homes

At 35cm deep, the cabinet sits against an entryway wall without crowding the corridor, and the 120cm height puts the display top at a natural eye-catching level in HDB flats, BTO layouts and condominiums alike — substantial enough to furnish the space, without reaching ceiling-height bulk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the rattan real cane?

The weave is synthetic rattan, chosen deliberately: it keeps the classic cane look while standing up to daily use and Singapore's humidity far better than natural fibre. It does not sag or fray, and cleaning is a wipe rather than a restoration project. The frame around it is solid rubberwood.

How many pairs of shoes does it hold?

Approximately 16 to 20 pairs across the internal shelves, depending on shoe size and how you mix flats, sneakers and bulkier pairs. The drawers and display top carry the rest of the entryway's daily clutter.

Will shoes smell inside a closed cabinet?

The open cane weave is the answer — air passes continuously through the door fronts, so moisture from worn shoes escapes instead of building up. Letting rain-soaked pairs dry before shelving them is still good practice for any enclosed storage.

Will it fit my entryway?

At 120cm wide and 35cm deep, it suits entryway walls in most HDB and condominium layouts. Check your wall run against the 120cm width; the shallow depth keeps the walkway clear.

How is it assembled?

Our own team assembles it in your home. A cabinet of this size travels safely in parts and is built in your entryway — which is also what lets it clear lifts, stairwells and doorways. Assembly is included free with delivery anywhere in Singapore, along with placement and levelling.

Like every piece in our solid wood shoe storage collection, this rattan shoe cabinet is built from solid rubberwood, finished with water-based paint, and delivered and assembled free across Singapore.
