A Shoe Cabinet with Drawers — the Entryway's Working Console

Most shoe cabinets store shoes and stop there. This one runs the whole doorway routine: two drawers up top for the things your hands are full of, two doors concealing the family's shoe collection, and an open shelf at the base for the pairs that come off and go on every day. One piece of furniture, three layers of order, at a console height that puts the display top exactly where you set things down.

Two Drawers at Hand Height

The pair of full-width drawers sits at the top of the cabinet, right where you reach as you walk in: keys, access cards, sunglasses, shoe horns, spare masks, the lint roller. Round matte-black knobs against the timber give the cabinet its quiet vintage character, and the gently curved gallery sides on the top surface keep vases, frames and boxes from sliding off the back.

Two Doors for the Collection

Behind the doors, shelves span the full width of the cabinet for the pairs you are not wearing this week — dress shoes, heels, spares — kept dust-free and out of sight behind clean timber fronts with slim vertical handles. As a guide, the 60cm model holds around 8 to 10 pairs behind its doors, the 80cm around 12 to 14, and the 100cm around 15 to 18.

The Open Base Shelf

Below the doors, an open shelf floats above the plinth for the daily-rotation pairs — slippers, school shoes, the sneakers you wear to the MRT. Air circulates freely around them, damp pairs dry naturally, and children can reach their own shoes without opening a single door. It is the layer that keeps the enclosed section tidy, because the shoes that move every day never need to go inside.

Three Widths, One Height

All three models share the same 35cm depth and 97cm height; only the width changes.

  • 60cm — for tight corridors and studio entryways; the full three-layer system in the narrowest footprint. $570
  • 80cm — the balanced choice for most 3-room and 4-room HDB entryways. $630
  • 100cm — for families and wider foyers, with the most drawer and shelf space. $700

At 35cm deep, even the 100cm model keeps a standard 90–110cm corridor clearly walkable, and the 97cm height tucks below most switch panels and window sills while putting the top surface at a natural standing-height drop zone.

Solid Rubberwood, Water-Based Finish

The cabinet is built from solid rubberwood — a dense plantation-grown hardwood with a Janka hardness of around 960 to 1,000 lbf that holds its shape, doors and drawer runners true through Singapore's humidity swings. Every surface is sealed with a water-based paint finish: no strong paint smell, no off-gassing period, safe for occupied homes from the day it is installed, and it keeps its colour over the years rather than yellowing.

Three Finishes

Natural Wood is light and honey-toned, at home in Scandinavian and Japandi interiors. Black Walnut brings a deep classic brown that grounds the entryway. Natural White is the two-tone option — soft white drawer and door fronts set in a natural timber frame, bright without being stark, and a natural match for lighter HDB and BTO palettes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What goes where?

The rhythm that works: daily pairs on the open base shelf, everything else behind the doors, and the drawers for the small things you grab on the way out. The top stays free for display — or for whatever you are carrying.

How many pairs does it hold in total?

Counting the enclosed shelves and the open base shelf: roughly 11 to 13 pairs in the 60cm model, 16 to 18 in the 80cm, and 20 to 23 in the 100cm, depending on how you mix flats, sneakers and bulkier shoes.

Should damp shoes go behind the doors?

Let them dry on the open base shelf first — that is what it is for. Once dry, they can move inside; wiping the enclosed shelves monthly keeps everything fresh.

Will it fit my HDB corridor?

Almost certainly. At 35cm deep, even the widest model leaves the walkway clear in a standard corridor, and the raised legs keep the floor line visible so the piece feels lighter than its storage suggests — and robot-vacuum friendly.

How is it assembled?

Our own team assembles it in your home. A cabinet of this size travels safely in parts and is built in your entryway — which is also what lets it clear lifts, stairwells and doorways. Assembly is included free with delivery anywhere in Singapore, along with placement and levelling.
